Shiv Sena leader Chandrasekhar Jadhav shot in Vikhroli, assailant arrested
Chandrasekhar Jadhav, an office-bearer of the Shiv Sena, was injured after an assailant opened fire on him in Mumbai’s Vikhroli area on Thursday morning.
The incident took place around 7 am today when Jadhav was visiting Sai Mandir in Tagore Nagar, Vikhroli with his sons.
According to Vikhroli police, the assailant fired multiple rounds at Jadhav, a sub-division chief or ‘shakha pramukh’ of the Shiv Sena, out of which one bullet hit his left shoulder.
The 55-year-old Sena functionary was admitted to Godrej Hospital in Vikhroli, while the attacker was caught by passers-by and handed over to police. The pistol used in the attack has also been seized.
The accused has been identified as Abhay Singh (22). The Uttar Pradesh native is currently in police custody and being questioned as of publishing this report.
Jadhav, meanwhile, is still being treated. His condition is said to be stable.
