Man enters Mumbai airport to see off family, gets fined for trespassing
Yesterday morning, a person managed to enter terminal 1B of the Mumbai airport on a cancelled ticket of flight 6E 366 to Vishakhapatnam via Hyderabad.
Identified as Surya Narayan Reddy, he man along with his family had arrived in the city for the treatment of his son who is suffering from polio, and they were returning to Vishakhapatnam.
However, due to delay in discharge of his son from the hospital, Reddy had to cancel two tickets and stay back. He wanted to see off his rest of the family and reached the check in counter of IndiGo at the terminal at Santacruz.
According to airport police, Reddy was not aware that he was not allowed to go up to the check in area without a ticket.
The airport staff handed him to the police who then verified his documents. After they were content with Reddy’s claims, the authorities let him off after making him pay Rs 5,000 fine for trespassing.
