Massive fire breaks out in a building in Bhiwandi, 150 trapped on terrace
A major fire broke out in a ground plus four-storey building in Bhiwandi earlier today. The residential cum commercial building is located in Kasimpura area.
As per reports, the fire erupted due to a short circuit in the ground floor of the building which comprises of textile shops. Within minutes, first and second floor of the building were engulfed in flames.
Around 150 people, residing in the building, ran up to the terrace and alerted fire officials immediately.
Currently, eight fire tenders are at the spot to douse the flames. Rescue operations are underway.
So far the fire officials have managed to rescue 30 people.
Update: Fire officials successfully completed the rescue operation and managed to rescue around 145 trapped residents. However, three people were reported injured as they jumped from the building in panic. The injured have been admitted to IGM hospital.
