WhatsApp launches official PC app
Local Press Co 5-point Snippet
1. Earlier this week, we had reported about rumours surrounding WhatsApp’s standalone application for desktops. Today, the messaging platform has announced the launch of their desktop application via their official blog.
2. Unlike WhatsApp Web, the new application will not require the phone to be connected to the same internet connection or keep the browser window open at all times.
3. All users have to do is download the application from this link and after installing it connect their phone by scanning a QR code. The app will be synced with user’s cell phone, similar to WhatsApp Web. However, this application will also be linked to the phone’s internet connection instead of the network the computer’s connected to.
4. WhatsApp’s new application is currently available for systems running Windows 8 and above or Mac OS 10.9 and above.
5. The Facebook-owned company is also set to launch voice mail, invites and video calling features very soon.
