1. On Tuesday, Mumbai police crime branch arrested three men in possession of fake Indian currency notes amounting to over Rs 3 lakh.

2. While searching, police recovered 200 fake notes of Rs 500 denomination and 202 fake notes of Rs 1,000 from the accused.

3. During investigation, the trio informed the cops that they had bought the fake notes in West Bengal and planned to distribute them in Mumbai and other cities. They further revealed that they would get 45 per cent profit after selling the notes in the market.

4. Sources claim that Sunil Mane, crime branch unit-in-charge had already received an information that the accused, identified as Barek Shaikh (36), Saifuddin Momin (33) and Musluddin Momin (44), were to arrive at Senapati Bapat Marg in Parel.

5. Later, the crime branch officials laid a trap for the suspects and managed to apprehend them before they could begin circulating the fake notes. A case has been registered against the accused at N M Joshi Marg police station and they have been remanded into police custody till May 15.
