Irrfan Khan accuses Rajinikanth of stealing his movie’s poster
Two stalwarts of Indian cinema, Irrfan Khan and Rajinikanth, are gearing for the release of their upcoming films ‘Madaari’ and ‘Kabali’ respectively.
Needless to say, the movies have already lapped up quite a following before their release due to their lead actors and awesome trailers. While both movies have completely different storylines, they do have something in common – their promotional posters.
If you look closely, you will notice that the Madaari poster, which was unveiled first, bears a striking resemblance to that of Kabali. And we’re not the only ones who think that, Irrfan does too.
When the actor was in a Mumbai mall recently for the promotion of his upcoming film, he was asked about the similarity between the two posters. But, the actor jovially answered, “Even I didn’t know that. We are small filmmakers, I saw that Rajinikanthji’s film stole the poster of our film. You see his film’s poster and see our film’s poster. No big deal about it. Watch his film and watch our film, too.”
After his statement, the copied posters became a talking point among fans. But, Rajinikanth’s fans later pointed out that the ‘similar’ Kabali poster isn’t the film’s official poster. It’s a fan made one.
After seeing multiple claims, we checked in with the production house and they have confirmed that the landscape poster was never designed by their team.
Rajnikanth’s Kabali also stars Radhika Apte, Dhansika and Winston Chao and is helmed by Pa Ranjith. Irrfan’s Madaari on the other hand is directed by Nishikant Kamat and stars Jimmy Shergill. Both movies are set for a June 15 release.
