Richa Chadda’s glamorous ‘Cabaret’ has no release date, Pooja Bhatt explains why
Despite the initial hype surrounding the film, Richa Chadda starrer ‘Cabaret’ has missed two release dates and still failed to see the light of day.
The Kaustav Narayan Niyogi helmed film was first scheduled to release on May 27. But, it missed that and was re-scheduled for a June 10 release. But after the movie missed the second date as well, speculations were rife that something wasn’t right.
Now the film’s co-producer, Pooja Bhatt, has come forth and clarified that Cabaret was rescheduled twice because of copyright violation. In a series of tweets, Bhatt claimed, “Much speculation about the release of @cabaretthefilm & rightly so.Truth is my copyright has been violated on the film & we are fixing that.”
Additionally, “ALL my films get a dignified release. Will not permit @CabaretTheFilm to debut unless ALL players put their supposed clout & might behind it”
She further added, “To speak with silence when we should protest is what makes cowards out of men.Time yet again to stand up for our rights & claim what is fair”
Back in May, director Kaustav dismissed rumours that the film was delayed due to creative differences with Bhatt. “There are no creative differences at all. This is all rubbish. We have completed the film and it has turned out nicely. Reasons behind the delay are not any ‘differences’ whatsoever,” he told PTI.
The film, which also stars Gulshan Devaiah and cricketer S Sreesanth is loosely based on the life of yesteryear Bollywood siren Helen. The film was touted as Richa Chadda’s most ‘glamourous’ role till date.
While Pooja has clarified why Cabaret’s release was pushed back, she hasn’t confirmed the film has any final release date yet.
