Authorities choose to ignore death trap at Wadala Road station
The screams of around 10 people who die on the tracks of the Mumbai Suburban Rail Network every single day seems to have fallen on deaf ears. This is evident from the fact that the boundary wall around the tracks of Wadala Road station on the Harbour line have collapsed since quite some time now, and the authorities don’t have any interest in constructing the wall again.
Besides, no step has been taken yet to even erect a temporary fence to stop commuters from illegally crossing the railway tracks.
This is despite the Bombay High Court’s approval to a series of pro-commuter measures for the city’s suburban railway system in 2004. One of the several ratified measures were to construct boundary walls and fence the railway tracks.
