Cop assaults Vasai bar owner when asked to pay liquor bill
Twenty-three-year-old son of a restobar was assaulted by a police constable after former asked him to pay for liquor he had consumed.
The accused, identified as Nitin Nalawade (45), along with a man arrived at Trupti Bar and restaurant in Vasai (West) around 9.30 pm on Tuesday. He ordered a 180 ml Blenders Pride, and after an hour, when Nalawade was about to leave, the waiter presented him a bill of Rs 458.
Nalawade allegedly took the bill and walked out without making the payment. Taksheel, an MBA student who was helping his father at the cash counter, ran behind Nalawade and asked him to pay the bill. In a fit of rage, Nalawade allegedly rode his two-wheeler on Taksheel, thereby injuring his left leg. That wasn’t all. The cop even slapped and abusing Taksheel before escaping from the scene.
The entire incident was captured on the CCTV camera at the bar. Realsing the gravity of his crime, Nalawade returned to the bar and paid the bill in cash.
However, Taksheel along with his father and a few other hoteliers approached the police and waited overnight to get the complaint registered. The Manickpur police registered a non-cognisable offence against Nalawade, who has been now transferred to the Palghar police control room.
