After crocodile attack in Powai Lake, Forest Department puts up signboards
Last week, a fisherman was attacked by a crocodile in Powai Lake after he ventured close to where it had laid eggs. The fisherman, Babu Bhure, sustained injuries on his hands and legs and was hospitalized immediately after. The lake is believed to house at least ten crocodiles.
A few months prior to the attack, the residents had asked authorities to put up signboards to warn people of the crocodile’s presence. But, the request had fallen on deaf ears. After the attack on Bhure, the residents demanded that the board be put up on immediate basis to ensure the safety everyone involved.
The State’s Forest Department has finally paid heed to their demands and put up signboards warning people about the crocodile’s presence.
The boards in the above picture were put up by Forest Department today.
