KFC outlet at Nerul shut down as FDA finds bacteria in water
The Food Drugs and Administration have ceased the operations of a KFC unit at Nerul in Navi Mumbai today.
The outlet was sealed owing to the alleged presence of high-level of bacteria in water that was being used there.
The officials found that the water being used in the RO Unit of the company at Nerul on March 13 was contaminated with bacteria. The level of E.Coli and Coliform bacteria found in 100 ml of water was 34 as against to the specified zero.
The company was earlier slapped with a notice and a warning to improve upon the water quality. However, when the water was tested again, the levels remained the same. Left with no option, the FDA had to shut down the unit.
The unit can start operations only after the company complies with the requirement, and submits proof of the same.
