Man sells fake VIP passes of IPL match for 20k, gets caught
On Sunday, the police arrested a 38-year-old man from Mumbai’s Fort area in connection with the sale of fake VIP passes of an IPL match.
The accused, identified as Namdev Dedge, allegedly sold four fake passes for an IPL match to the complainant. The passes sold by Dedge belonged to Sachin Tendulkar stand for the match to be played between Mumbai Indians and Kolkata Knightriders on April 28 at Wankhede stadium. The passes costed Rs 5,000 each.
When the complainant along with his friends was entering the stadium, he was informed by the stadium authorities that the passes were fake. They immediately rushed to the nearest police station to lodge a complaint and passed Dedge’s mobile number to the cops.
With the help of his phone number, cops were able to trace Dedge’s location and catch hold of him. He is currently in police custody.
Police have registered a case of forgery and cheating against him. A few fake passes have also been recovered from him.
