Over the last few months, students, NGOs and volunteer groups have been at the forefront of beautifying Mumbai’s railway stations.

After beautifying a host of railway stations like Borivali, Khar, Matunga, G.T.B Nagar and Sion, Central Railway’s Reay Road station is the next in line to receive the visual makeover.

Opened in 1910, Reay Road is one of Mumbai’s oldest and amongst the five heritage railway stations of the city.

NGO Upasana and The Die Hard took the onus of the station’s beautification. In the past, The Die Hard group has beautified Sion and King’s Circle stations.

Volunteers from both groups took the paintbrush to the most prominent structures of the station – it’s 20 pillars. With the station’s pillars donning a bright and distinct look, commuters travelling via the station will now be greeted to a visually attractive wall art instead of paint scraped walls.

The groups are likely to undertake the beautification of Mahim station next.
