28 injured in accident involving two ST buses in Thane
At least 28 people were injured in a mishap involving two State Transport buses on SATIS bridge near Thane railway station on Thursday afternoon.
The incident took place around 2 pm today.
While one bus was travelling on Thane-Bhiwandi (MH-20-BL-0414) route, the other was plying on the Thane-Shahapur (MH-14-BT-2479) route.
According to preliminary information, the gear box of the Bhiwandi-bound bus was jammed due to which the driver was unable to control the vehicle and ended up ramming it into the side of the bridge. Immediately after, the trailing ST bus rammed into it.
At least 28 people, including the driver, travelling in the Thane-Shahapur bus were injured in the mishap and were taken to Thane civil hospital for treatment.
Although none of them sustained any serious injuries, details regarding their present condition are awaited.
The incident also led to minor traffic snarl on the narrow bridge.
