An under-construction pillar, erected for the ongoing Metro work, fell on a BEST bus in Mumbai’s Kandivali on Thursday afternoon.
According to eye-witnesses, the iron mesh of the pillar fell on the roof of the BEST bus number 711 near Thakur Complex on Western Express Highway around 12:30 pm today.
The bus was ferrying commuters from Dindoshi to Bhayander. While no passengers were injured in the mishap, the bus’ roof was damaged.
Additional information on what caused the pillar to collapse is awaited.
Meanwhile, work on clearing the bus from the road is underway as of publishing this report.
At present, work on the Dahisar East-Andheri East Metro-7 corridor is being carried out on Western Express Highway near Kandivali. The 33.5 km partially elevated corridor is expected to be ready by mid-2019.Back to latest news
