Mumbai artist creates Bal Thackeray portrait with 33,000 rudraksh beads
A Mumbai-based artist has created a portrait of Shiv Sena patriarch-founder Bal Thackeray using 33,000 rudrakshas on the occasion of his 93rd birth anniversary.
The portrait, made by artist Chetan Raut, was put up in front of Shiv Sena Bhavan today.
“Balasaheb Thackeray had a special relationship with rudraksha, so I wanted this portrait to be made of it. It is an 8 x 8 feet portrait and is made up of 33,000 rudrakshas. I tried to make a world record,” Raut told ANI.

Rudrakshas or prayer beads of different shades have been used to give a 3D effect to the portrait.
To mark the occasion, the Shiv Sena is also organising a grand event at the mayor’s bungalow today. The event is expected to be attended by Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, Shiv Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray and Mayor Vishwanath Mahadeshwar.
