TV actor Karan Oberoi arrested for allegedly raping, blackmailing woman

Television actor Karan Oberoi, who was most recently seen in Amazon Prime’s hit web-series Inside Edge, was arrested on Monday for allegedly raping and blackmailing a woman.
The woman filed a complaint against Oberoi on Sunday, following which an FIR was registered at Oshiwara Police Station in Mumbai under sections 376 (rape) and 384 (extortion) of the Indian Penal Code.
According to the police, the actor-model allegedly raped the woman in Oshiwara in 2017 on the pretext of marrying her.
“Oberoi not only raped the woman and filmed the act but also demanded money from the victim threatening to release the video if she did not pay up,” they said quoting the FIR.
The actor was produced in court today, which sent him to police custody till May 9.
The accused actor has previously worked in television series, ‘Swabhimaan’, ‘Jassi Jaissi Koi Nahin’, ‘Saaya’ among others. He also reportedly appeared in advertising campaigns of FBB, Royal Enfield Riding Apparel, Aldo, Jack & Jones, and Lamborghini.
Oberoi was also a member of the music group ‘A Band of Boys’, formed in 2001.
