According to preliminary information, the blaze broke out around noon in one of the cars parked under the Airport flyover on Western Express Highway, located in the vicinity of the Mumbai Domestic Airport.

In no time, other cars also went up in flames and a cloud of smoke engulfed the area.

After Mumbai Fire Brigade was alerted about the incident, a team of firefighters were sent to the spot. Fire fighting, with the help of one fire tender and two water tankers, is underway as of publishing this report.

At least three cars, seemingly abandoned, that parked under the flyover were completely gutted in the blaze, eye-witnesses said.

However, no casualties have been reported due to the blaze so far.

Since a part of the road was barricaded for emergency vehicles, northbound traffic on the main road and the flyover was affected due to the mishap. Officials from Mumbai police and traffic police, meanwhile, were also on the spot to divert traffic and control vehicular movement.
