At least 15 bikes were gutted in a fire that broke out in Mumbai’s Matunga area late night on Thursday.

According to sources, the fire broke out around midnight at Sundar Kamla Nagar, located near Sion Hospital, in Matunga (East). The fire had spread to multiple bikes by the time Mumbai Fire Brigade was alerted.

Officials from the fire brigade soon arrived at the spot and doused the flames after a few minutes of fire-fighting. Around 15 bikes were completely gutted in the blaze by the time it was brought under control.

The mishap, however, did not result in any casualties.

The cause of fire is not yet known as officials are still trying to determine if any anti-social elements were responsible for setting the two-wheelers ablaze.

Earlier this week, a drunk man had set a bike on fire in Thane’s Vartak Nagar. Before that, nine bikes had been set ablaze near Kaushalya Hospital opposite Nitin company in Thane’s Ganeshwadi area on December 6.
