7-year-old student dies after collapsing in Mahim school’s premises
In a tragic incident, a 7-year-old girl died after falling in her school premises on Monday morning.
The girl, Iqra Shoaib, was a student Canossa Primary School in Mahim. The incident happened around 8:15 am, when Iqra was rushing towards her class. On her way, the girl collapsed in the building’s corridor.
School authorities immediately rushed Iqra to Hinduja hospital and alerted her parents. However, a few minutes after the parents arrived at the hospital, the kid was declared dead. Hospital records show the time of death as 11 am.
A parent, who wished to remain anonymous, has claimed that a WhatsApp message was being circulated in the parent’s group which mentioned that the girl may have suffered an epileptic attack.
A member of the school staff informed us that the school did everything it could to ensure that the kid received proper medical care after the incident, adding that there was no delay in taking the kid to the hospital.
When question about the possibility of an epileptic attack, the staff member said, “As far as we know, the parents had not submitted any medical record that mentioned the girl was suffering from epilepsy.”
According to school records, Iqra had joined the school in June. Meanwhile, Mahim police has registered a case of natural death.
