BSE partners with Twitter to provide realtime market updates
Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) has partnered with US-based micro-blogging platform Twitter to provide real-time market updates on the social networking site through auto tweets and direct messages.
“Twitter is the first international social media platform that the BSE is leveraging to enable millions of Indian investors to access stock-related information via digital platform with ease,” the stock exchange said in a statement.
People can follow the markets on Twitter through hourly tweets, auto-responder tweets for Sensex 30 stock prices, auto direct messages for opening and closing figures of Sensex and a ‘live’ display photo that will change every two minutes to project the dynamic Sensex figure and level.
To get the Sensex 30 stock prices, users can simply tweet to @BSEIndia with the designated company hashtag and get the company’s stock price via an auto-response.
To subscribe to a company’s opening and closing details via direct messages users can tweet #subscribe #companyname or #unsubscribe #companyname to unsubscribe.
According to a BSE spokesperson, the exchange has been active on Twitter since 2012, however, there was no real time feed available on the platform for investors.
Established in 1875, the BSE is Asia’s first stock exchange. It claims to be the world’s fastest stock exchange, with a median trade speed of 6 microseconds.
The BSE is also the world’s 11th largest stock exchange, with an overall market capitalization of $1.7 trillion as of January 23, 2015. Over 5500 companies are publicly listed on the BSE.
