Cop catches drunk man urinating on his car in Kalyan, gets thrashed by his friends
Police arrested five drunk men for allegedly thrashing an on-duty constable outside a bar in Kalyan during the wee hours of Saturday.
The incident occurred around 1 am when constable, Satish Desai, was on his routine round to ensure that no shops, bars or other establishments from the area stay open beyond the mandated deadline. Desai was doing the round in his private vehicle.
When he reached Rangeela Bar on Kalyan-Malang road, he got out of his car and went inside to check if the bar was winding up. After having inspected the place, Desai came out and saw a man urinating on his car.
When the constable confronted the accused, identified as Rahul Chaudhari, he immediately called his friends from inside the bar. The five friends then got into an argument with Desai, which quickly escalated and took a violent turn. The constable was ganged up and beaten by the culprits for a few minutes, while onlookers stood by and watched.
Later, when the staff from the bar heard the commotion and came out, the accused fled the spot. However, Desai quickly informed the police control room about the incident and all five men were nabbed within a few kilometers from the spot. All of the accused were reportedly drunk at the time.
Apart from Chaudhari, the other accused include Karan Chaudhari, Vishwanath Bhosale, Sudhir Patil and Rajesh Karunakar. All five have been booked for assaulting a public servant and are currently in police custody.
