Crime Branch arrests mastermind behind 6 crore robbery in Navi Mumbai
On Friday, Mumbai police Crime Branch arrested the alleged mastermind behind the 6 crore robbery at a finance company in Navi Mumbai on August 5.
According to reports, the anti-robbery cell of the Mumbai Crime Branch led by Senior Police Inspector Ashok Khot apprehended the accused, identified as Arputraj Nadar. The accused, who is a history-sheeter, is believed to be the mastermind behind the heist. Nadar has cases registered against him throughout the country, including Mumbai.
A tipoff from an informer helped the Crime Branch nab Nadar. Upon questioning him, he gave the officials some vital information, which will now be used to track the loot and nab the other accused. “With the help of a tip-off, Nadar has been nabbed. Based on his interrogation, several police teams have left the city to nab the other five robbers and recover the stolen booty,” a source told a leading daily.
The heist took place on August 5, when five men wearing a mask barged into the finance company located at Seawoods-Nerul area. They subdued the employees with the help of knives and robbed Rs 6 crore.
After checking the CCTV footage, cops found another accused who was their runaway driver. He was waiting outside the company in a Swift Dzire. The car was later found abandoned in Kalamboli.
Upon digging further, cops found that the accused had visited the premises a few days prior to committing the robbery to conduct a recce.
Meanwhile, teams have been formed to track the remaining accused and recover the stolen loot.
