Dindoshi police rescued a 10-year-old who fell into a 40 feet duct while playing Holi in his building at DB Woods complex in Goregaon East on Friday. He was rescued 9 hours after he fell.

According to reports, the kid, Drishya Todi, had left his house to play Holi with his friends around 11 am.

He got separated from the group around noon while playing hide and seek, following which his friends started searching for him.

When they couldn’t find him till 1:30 pm, they informed his parents who, along with a few other residents, started searching the premises. A message was also circulated on a few WhatsApp groups.

After failing to locate their missing son, the parents approached Dindoshi police station around 4 pm and filed a complaint.

Officials from the Dindoshi police station, along with DCP (zone XII) Vinaykumar Rathod, arrived at the complex and spoke to Drishya’s friends to ascertain his last location.

The friends informed cops that the Class IV student had gone to hide near the duct. The officials searched the area again and heard faint cries of help coming from the duct’s bottom.

Drishya, who had miraculously survived the near 40 feet fall, was finally rescued around 8:30 pm. He was subsequently reunited with his parents and taken to nearby Life Line hospital for a check-up.

The 10-year-old had sustained some injuries due to the fall, but none of them were serious in nature.

Cops suspect that Drishya may have tried to latch on to the wall at some point which may have broken his fall.
