1. On Monday morning, locals of Patanwadi were shocked to see hundreds of dead fish floating on the surface of Shantaram Talao in Malad.

2. At around 11.30 am, several fish were found dead in the lake, following which the local ward office informed the department of fisheries about the incident. They also collected water samples for examination.

3. Meanwhile, a top BMC official confirmed that the dead fish have been removed and the water samples have sent for testing at G South Ward to ascertain if the water was contaminated.

4. According to a TOI report, not all the fish in the water body have died and the officials are yet to confirm the total number of dead fish.

5. The lake is also emitting a foul odour, due to which the residents are finding it difficult to live in the surrounding. They have also urged the civic body to take immediate action and pay heed to their requests towards cleanliness of the lake.
