During the wee hours of Tuesday, a landslide at Mumbra bypass highway affected the peak hour traffic towards Thane.
The incident occurred around 3:30 am near Rehmania hospital on Tuesday morning, following which one lane towards Thane was completely shut for traffic.
According to sources, a medium sized boulder fell on one of the trailer which was travelling parallel to the mountain. Both driver and cleaner, however, escaped unhurt.
Traffic police and officials from the Thane Municipal Corporation (TMC) are on the spot. While the traffic police are helping divert the traffic, the civic officials are overlooking the removal of the debris.
As of 10 am, a total of three mid-sized excavators have been deployed for the clearing the road.
Motorists travelling towards Thane have reported an average delay of 15 minutes.
