1. On Friday, the Kasturba Marg police arrested six people, including a woman, for allegedly kidnapping and assaulting a 33-year-old man from Borivali.

2. The victim, identified as Shahid Bagwan had cheated the accused in the past by not returning the money borrowed from them. One of the accused, Shama Baksh had also filed a complaint against him with the Bangur Nagar police. Following which, Bagwan was arrested but was later released on bail.

3. On Monday, when Shama spotted Bagwan in a local market, she approached him and asked him to repay her money. When Bagwan refused to do so, Shama, along with one of her accomplice, abducted Bagwan from the spot. “The two then called four more people (who were also allegedly cheated by Bagwan) and took him to Goregaon where they locked him in a room,” said a police official.

4. Following his kidnap, all the six accused assaulted and threatened Bagwan for cheating them and many other people. Later, at night they put him in a car and dropped him near his residence.

5. On the basis of information provided by Bagwan, cops managed to nab Shama, who then led them to the other five. All the accused were booked on the charges of assault and kidnaping.
