Man kills 2-year-old son after Eid shopping, informs wife before fleeing
In a shocking incident, a man killed his two-year-old son and dumped his body on railway tracks near Byculla station on Tuesday night.
The culprit, identified as Kadir Khan, hails from Maharashtra’s Beed district. He arrived in Mumbai last week and was residing at a relative’s house in Bhendi Bazaar along with his wife Samina and son.
Around 7.30 pm on Tuesday, Kadir took his son, Kaif, to the market for Eid shopping and did not return the entire night. In a state of panic, Kadir’s wife approached the JJ Marg Police early morning on Wednesday and filed a missing persons complaint.
While the police began hunting for the father-son duo, Kadir called Samina around 9.30 am and said, “I have killed your son and dumped him on the railway track.” After receiving this information, the JJ Marg police immediately alerted the CST government railway police (GRP). The GRP found Kaif’s body laying on the tracks between Byculla and Sandhurst Road railway stations.
According to police, preliminary medical reports suggest that the boy was first drowned then dumped on the tracks. As of Friday, his body has been sent for post-mortem.
Meanwhile, the JJ Marg police have registered a case against Kadir under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and launched a manhunt to find the accused. The family has claimed that Kadir was mentally unstable.
