Mega-Beautification Drive In Pictures: Byculla Station on Central Railway
Earlier this month, Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu kicked off the ‘Hamara Station Hamari Shaan’ initiative, which entailed the beautification of 36 Mumbai suburban stations.
Each of the 36 stations, across both Western and Central line, were cleaned, painted and beautified with murals and artwork over a seven day ‘Daan Utsav’ period observed from October 2 to 8.
The project included the cleanup and beautification of the entire station premises, including staircases, foot-over-bridges (FOBs), booking windows, entrances, platforms etc.
Every station was beautified with a unique theme wherein the mural and artwork reflected the area’s history and culture.
Railways had collaborated with Mumbai First and Making A Difference (M.A.D) for the beautification drive, with another 20,000 volunteers and various other NGOs & corporate entities lending a hand.
Now that the drive has culminated, we take a look at each of the newly beautified stations in our ‘Mega-Beautification Drive’ series.
