Model pushes mom to death in Lokhandwala: Claims she was possessed, cops suspect hallucinations
The 23-year-old model, who was arrested on Friday for allegedly pushing his mother at their Lokhandwala home during a scuffle and causing her death, has claimed this mom was possessed by a spirit.
According to Oshiwara police, Lakshya Singh was arrested on two days back in connection with the death of his mother Sunita Singh (45).
The two, along with the accused’s fiancee Aishpriya Banerjee, stayed in a rented flat in Cross Gate building in Lokhandwala area.
The accused was produced in court on Saturday, which remanded him in police custody till October 8.
Initial investigations have revealed that mother, a fashion designer, and son were addicted to drugs, said Shailesh Pasalwad, senior inspector, Oshiwara Police Station.
“We will interrogate the accused today to ascertain what exactly led to the scuffle between them,” he said.
According to another official, the accused has told the police that he had pushed his mother in the bathroom during a scuffle, possibly over finances, after consuming drugs Wednesday midnight.
The deceased hit her head on the wash basin and collapsed, and Lakshya locked the bathroom from outside, police said.
When Lakshya opened the door in the morning, he found his mother in an unconscious state. He called an ambulance to rush his mother to hospital, but she was declared brought dead at Cooper Hospital.
Police said Sunita was found with multiple injuries on her back and head.
Sunita, Lakshya, his fiancee and two domestic helps were present in the flat at the time of the incident.
During interrogation, Lakshya reportedly told cops that his mother was possessed by his father’s spirit and was blabbering when he, his fiancee and friend Nikhil Rai came home that night. A scuffle broke out between the two, after which he locked her inside.
The 23-year-old also claimed that he had earlier contacted a black magic expert to banish the spirit from his mother.
Police, however, suspect that he was hallucinating under the influence of drugs and are awaiting his medical report for a confirmation.
