Renowned television personalities Jaya Bhattacharya and Rupali Ganguli have launched an ambulance service to help and rescue animals in the city.

“We started working on the ambulance some time back. Now we are ready to run it and help animals in pain. I wish more people join us and come up with such ambulances in every city in India so that even animals can lead a healthy life,” Jaya, known for shows like ‘Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi’ and ‘Thapki Pyaar Ki’, said in a statement.

The ambulance will run from Bandra to Bhayander from 10.30 am to 6.30 pm.

“People can call or message at 9920499404 to reach us. Social activists like Bakul Khatau, Ashwin Verma, Karan Kohli, Geeta R.A., Madhugandha Kulkarni and Nidi Omkar Rane have helped us in achieving this goal,” she added.

Rupali, popular for acting in shows such as ‘Parvarrish – Kuchh Khattee Kuchh Meethi’ and ‘Sarabhai vs Sarabhai’, added that the service will take care of animals that are in dire need of help.

“The ambulance will look after injured animals who don’t have shelters or home. It was really required and I feel blessed to be a part of this activity.”

The initiative has garnered praise from others like Yash Sheth – founder of LetItWag, who are working tirelessly towards filling the void in the animal welfare space.

“There is a desperate need for more ambulances catering to animals in Mumbai. I laud Jaya Bhattacharya and Rupali Ganguli for being at the forefront of bringing about a change. Their association with the cause and popularity will go a long way in increasing awareness and encourage others to lend a hand,” Sheth told Local Press Co.

His app, LetItWag, allows users to rescue animals realtime, adopt pets and discover nearby vets.

In addition, several NGOs like World for All (WFA), Save Our Strays, Animals Matter To Me (AMTM) and YODA are actively involved in helping animals in the city.
