Policeman ‘accidentally’ hangs himself at his Bhandup residence

In a bizarre incident, a 26-year-old police constable ‘accidentally’ hanged himself at his Bhandup residence on Monday.
According to reports, the incident happened after the police constable, identified as Govind Balaji Devde, returned home from work around 4 pm.
Upon returning, his wife asked him to tie a string inside the house in order to dry clothes as she couldn’t dry them outside due to ongoing rains.
After Devde tied the string, he took a sari and began to prepare a noose to demonstrate to his wife how criminals are hanged. He then put the noose around his neck and started explaining his wife the procedure.
While the noose was still around his neck, the stool on which Devde was standing slipped and he started struggling for life.
Devde’s wife, in a state of panic, rushed outside the house to call for help. After remaining in suspended position for some time, the noose was cut by his neighbours and he was taken down.
He was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital where he is currently undergoing treatment. His condition is critical.
His wife narrated the incident to the police when they arrived at the hospital to take her statement.
