Rail car derails between Lower Parel and Elphinstone Road station

Around 6 am on Tuesday, an empty rail car derailed and toppled between Lower Parel and Elphinstone road stations.
The rail car, which belonged to an outstation train, was being transported in the wee hours of the day when the mishap occurred. Since the rail car was empty, no injuries were reported.
Due to the derailment, slow services on the Western line have been affected. Slow trains from Mumbai Central to Dadar have been diverted to the fast track.
In addition, slow trains on both up and down routes will not be stopping at Matunga Road, Elphinstone Road, Lower Parel and Mahalaxmi stations.
Update (11.50 am): Up and down services on both slow and fast tracks have attained normalcy.
