Red Alert! Cops suspect terror attack on Mumbai through aerial route
Following Home Ministry’s directive to step up security after it received intelligence inputs about three heavily-armed terrorists entering India through Punjab, and Mumbai being on their hit list, the city has been put on high alert.
The alert was issued under section 144 of CrPC, suspecting terror attack through aerial route.
Another reason that has made security agencies press the panic button is the official visit of Duke and Duchess of Cambridge to the commercial capital on April 10.
Royal couple Prince William and Kate Middleton would begin their trip to the city with a visit to the Taj Palace Hotel. On arrival they will lay a wreath at a memorial inside the hotel and meet members of staff who helped protect guests during the 26/11 Mumbai attacks.
Meanwhile, Kensington Palace has refused to comment on whether the alert would affect the couple’s travel plans.
