Suspected of dating his girlfriend, engineering student thrashes teen in Navi Mumbai
Police have arrested a 20-year-old engineering student for allegedly kidnapping and assaulting a teen who he thought was dating his ex-girlfriend.
The victim is a class XII student studying in a Nerul college while the accused is pursuing civil engineering from a polytechnic college in New Panvel. The engineer’s ex-girlfriend studied with the victim in his college.
Last week, on August 26, the engineering student and three of his friends confronted the victim outside his house and forcefully shoved him into a car. After kidnapping him, they took him to an isolated area near Nerul MIDC and thrashed him.
The victim was allowed to leave later, but not before the group threatened him with a fake pistol and asked him to not to talk to anyone about the incident.
The Class XII student, however, filed a case with Nerul police and informed them about the kidnapping and beating. Following the complaint, cops managed to trace and arrest the prime accused on Wednesday. During questioning, he revealed the boy was the reason his girlfriend broke up with him.
The accused told the police that while he was dating his girlfriend, the teen would often spend time with her. But when he was confronted, he said they were just friends. But a few days later, his girlfriend broke up with him. That’s when he decided to teach him a lesson.
Meanwhile, Nerul police are on the lookout for the other three accused, two of whom are believed to be minors.
