Muslim man launches matrimonial site for finding ‘second wife’
In a first, a Muslim man has launched a matrimonial website called SecondWife.com to help his Muslim brothers find a second wife for themselves.
The founder of the website, Azad Chaiwala, insists that the service provided by his website promotes fidelity, morality and old-fashioned family values.
Launched in England, the website has quickly become popular among Muslim men from the West Midlands and boasts of 35,000 registered members. Chaiwala’s belief in his product is so strong that he plans to select his next two wives from SecondWife.com.
On the site’s homepage, visitors are welcomed with a verse from the holy Quran that reads, “Then marry women of your choice, two or three, or four, but if you fear that you will not be able to deal justly, then only one.”
After the quick success of SecondWife.com, Chaiwala opened another website called Polygamy.com for people belonging to all faiths. His second venture has also gained popularity among women and amassed over 7000 members since launch.
In Britain, bigamy is considered as an offence and can land one in jail for seven years. However, Chaiwala is of the opinion that his website does not promote any kind of criminal activity as his religion allows men to have up to four wives.
The website, however, is blocked in India.
