Father-son duo arrested for stealing Mercedes from showroom

Delhi Police, on Monday, arrested a father-son duo for stealing a Mercedes under the pretence of taking it for a test drive.
The incident happened last month after Anil Anand (54) and his son Sahil Anand (23) arrived at the T&T Motors Ltd at Rajouri Garden and asked the salesman for a test drive of a Rs 40 lakh Mercedes.
After the salesman obliged, the Anand’s failed to return with the car. The staff tried searching the nearby areas, but to no avail. A few hours later, the showroom’s sales manager Deepak Kumar decided to approach the police.
Delhi police registered the complaint, but were unable to locate the car initially. However, on Monday, they got a tipoff that the accused would be passing in the same car from Gurgaon.
Accordingly, officials laid a trap for the accused and managed to arrest them. The car, whose registration number had changed, was also impounded.
The father and son have been booked under relevant sections of the IPC.
