FOB at Charni Road station to be shut for 2 months for repair work
Passengers travelling to or from Charni Road station are likely to face some inconvenience as Western Railway is set to close the middle foot-over-bridge (FOB) for two months from tomorrow, September 28.
According to an official update from Western Railway, the FOB near the south side staircase on platform number 4 will remain closed for a period of 60 days between September 28 to November 26.
During the closure, railways authorities will undertake major repair and strengthening work on the FOB.
“To carry out major repairing and strengthening of Charni Road station middle Foot Over Bridge, south side staircase on PF No. 4 will remain closed from 28th September, 2018 to 26th November, 2018 for 60 days. Commuters may use north side staircase at PF No.4 of this FOB during this period,” WR said.

WR has requested commuters to bear with the inconvenience and advised them to use the north side staircase at platform number 4 during the 60 day period.
Back in April, authorities had shut the north side FOB at platform 1 at Charni Road station to carry out similar work.
The action comes in the backdrop of the stampede at Elphinstone Road station and Gokhale Bridge Collapse in Andheri, which necessitated a detailed inspection of FOBs and road-over-bridges (ROBs) under the jurisdiction of the BMC, MMRDA and the PWD.
The team tasked with inspecting the bridges will cover 145 FOBs and 29 ROBs under WR’s Mumbai division.
