Fire at Bandra Bandstand building: One woman dead, another critically injured
One woman died and another sustained major burn injuries in a fire that broke out on the top floor of a residential building in Bandstand, Bandra West on Thursday morning.
According to preliminary information, the incident took place around 7 am today on the sixth floor of Sea Springs Apartment building on Bandra Bandstand. The building is situated diagonally opposite Shah Rukh Khan’s bungalow, Mannat.
The exact cause of fire is not yet known.
Mumbai Fire Brigade was notified about the mishap, following which at least four fire tenders were rushed to the spot. The fire is under control as of publishing this report.
Two women were removed from the building and rushed to nearby Bhabha Hospital. Of the two, a 20-year-old woman identified as Evana Morrice was declared brought dead by doctors.
The other woman, 38-year-old Sifra Jafari, has sustained over 90 percent burn injuries and is currently admitted in the ICU ward of Bhabha Hospital. Her condition is said to be critical.
The building has been evacuated and fire brigade officials are surveying the flat to ascertain the cause of fire and extent of the damage to the building.
