The son of veteran actor Alok Nath was booked for driving without a license and under the influence of alcohol on Monday night.

Mumbai traffic police had put up a nakabandi near the Khar police station in a bid to catch drunk and drive offenders. When they signalled a white colored Ford Ecosport (MH 02 DN 8446) to stop, the driver tried to flee the spot instead.

Police officials chased the vehicle and managed to intercept it near Santacruz police station. According to one report, the accused even tried to switch places with a female friend, but was unsuccessful.

Upon checking, they found that the driver, Shivang Nath, was driving the SUV in an inebriated state and without a driving license. He was subsequently booked by the Santacruz police.

The accused was reportedly returning from a friend’s birthday party.

According to an official with Santacruz police, Shivang’s friends created a ruckus inside the police chowky as they too were drunk. An official also managed to record the incident on a cellphone.

When asked about the incident, DCP Ashok Dudhe, PRO for Mumbai Police, said, “The Bandra traffic division was conducting the special drive to curb drunken driving when the car did not stop and was later intercepted at SV road near Santacruz.”

“The accused has been booked for drunk driving, not possessing licence and disobeying police orders and we have collected a deposit of Rs 2500 and asked him to be present in court for further proceedings,” said Dudhe.

He has been asked to appear at Bandra Court today, 4 October.

Ironically, Shivang’s father Alok Nath gained massive popularity for his ‘sanskari’ roles.
