Balcony of Thane building collapses, one injured
At least one person was injured after a part of the balcony of a residential building in Thane collapsed on Wednesday afternoon.
According to officials, the second-floor balcony of the ground-plus-three-storey Amar Sadan Building collapsed before noon today. The building is located near Sarswati High school in Shivaji Nagar area of Rabodi in Thane (West).
Following the incident, officials from Thane Municipal Corporation’s Regional Disaster Management Committee (RDMC) and fire brigade arrived at the spot with one fire engine.
Meanwhile, one person who was injured in the mishap was shifted to the nearby civil hospital.
As of publishing this report, civic officials have evacuated the building and are examining it to ascertain its structural integrity.
The building was undergoing repair work when the balcony collapsed, but officials are yet to confirm if it was responsible for the balcony’s collapse.
