Parts of western suburbs will be without power for two hours early Sunday morning as Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) undertakes pivotal Metro construction work.

According to officials, MMRDA will erect a ‘U’ girder at Thakur Complex in Kandivali for the under-construction Metro-7 project.

As a result, areas between Vile Parle West and Charkop will have no electricity 3 am to 5 am on Sunday, June 24.

“There will be no electricity supply in Vile Parle, Juhu, Andheri, Versova, Jogeshwari, Goregaon, Malad, Kandivali, and Charkop,” MMRDA said in a statement.

This is the second time the planning agency has had to schedule a power cut for the Metro-7.

Back in March, several areas like Juhu, Versova, Vile Parle, Jogeshwari, Goregaon, Malad, Kandivli, Charkop among others had to face a four-hour power cut while the authority worked on increasing the height of the high-tension wires at Thakur Complex.

The Metro 7 (Dahisar East-Andheri East) is a 16.5 km elevated corridor with 14 stations. The construction work of the corridor is already underway and is expected to complete by 2019.
