1. On Monday, Mumbra police arrested a man who stabbed a 30-year-old after he confronted him for harassing his sister.
2. The accused, identified as Samar Sayyed, had been harassing the victim, Ahmed Shaikh’s sister over the past couple of days. After she grew tired of his actions, she finally told her brother about the matter, who confronted the 22-year old and asked him to put an end to it immediately.
3. However, the altercation between the two men took a turn for the worse when Sayyed stabbed Shaikh with a sharp object on his hands, face and abdomen.
4. Post the incident, the Mumbra resident was rushed to Kalwa Hospital. But given the severity of his injuries, Shaikh was moved to Sion Hospital where he is currently seeking treatment. Also, a case was registered against Sayyed, following which he was arrested by Mumbra police.
5. Subsequently, the police have booked the accused under sections 307 (attempt to murder), 323 (voluntarily causing hurt), 504 (intentional insult) and 34 (common intent) of the Indian Penal Code and he has been remanded in police custody until May 27.
