After exorbitant bananas, social media in splits over pricey ‘boiled eggs’ at Mumbai 5-star

Days after actor Rahul Bose’ tweet on exorbitant bananas, social media erupted once again after another netizen posted his bill from Four Seasons Hotel in Mumbai, which charged him Rs 1,700 for two boiled eggs.
On Sunday, author-photographer Kartik Dhar posted a bill with the caption: “2 eggs for Rs 1700 at the @FourSeasons Mumbai.
He tagged Rahul Bose with the caption saying, “Bhai Aandolan Karein (brother, should we protest)?”

Surprisingly, the hotel charged two omelettes at the same price as boiled eggs in the bill posted by Dhar, author of “All The Queen’s Men”.

You can’t do “andolan” bhai because the quoted price of Rs. 1700, is for boiled eggs.
Only if the eggs would have been raw, you would be eligible to file a case against them.
They are using loopholes inside the laws.

While the hotel is yet to issue a statement on this, the tweet created a furore on social media.
Last month, actor Rahul Bose highlighted how the JW Marriott Hotel in Chandigarh billed him a staggering Rs 442, including GST, for just two bananas.
Later, the Chandigarh Excise and Taxation Department had served a show-cause notice to the hotel and slapped a Rs 25,000 penalty for levying GST on the two bananas, violating the provisions of its HSN/Chapter 803.
However, the Federation of Hotel and Restaurant Associations of India (FHRAI) issued a statement saying that 18 percent GST on bananas was a legal requirement for the hotel.
