BMC sends notice to actress Anushka Sharma over her Versova flat
The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has sent a notice to actress Anushka Sharma for installing an electric junction box in the common passage area of her building without taking the requisite permission from the civic body.
Back in 2012, Sharma had brought all three flats on the 20th floor of Badrinath Tower housing society in suburban Versova. Since then, she has been living in the same flat with her family.
However, following a complaint by Sunil Batra – another resident of the housing society – officials from BMC’s K Ward issued the notice to the actress on April 6.
The notice directed Sharma to remove the electric junction box from the common passage area immediately, failing which necessary action will be initiated per the MMC act.
“The notice was served to the actor after going through the complaint filed by a resident of the same society,” a senior BMC official told PTI. However, he did not comment any further on the matter.
The notice did not bear the name of the actor, and was addressed to the owner of flat numbers 2001 and 2002 of the Badrinath Tower.
When asked about the BMC notice, the actor’s spokesperson denied any wrongdoing on her part and added that “there is nothing illegal about any construction or installation.”
“The actress owns three flats on the 20th floor and all the permissions since 2013 are in place. Anushka and her family are law abiding and responsible citizens and wouldn’t do anything to cause inconvenience or harm to anyone,” the spokesperson said in a statement.
Meanwhile, another resident of the building was quoted saying that Batra chose to notify the civic body instead of the informing the society’s managing committee since he has a personal vendetta against the actress and her family.
