Here’s a list of brands that might have tried to play a prank on you today!
It’s April Fool’s. So, waiting to hear our fake story of the day? Well, we thought about it. But we honestly couldn’t come up with anything interesting. So, instead we’re taking a stab at identifying who else might have ‘POSSIBLY’ played a prank today. A word of caution though. Although we might think these are pranks, there is a possibility that some of them may actually turn out to be true!
Ola Rooms
Ola Cabs and Oyo Rooms came together for this one. Ola cabs announced that it has now launched a new service called ‘Ola Rooms’ wherein they will offer rooms at Rs. 249. Oyo Rooms made a similar announcement and asked people to book the rooms via Oyo. What’s more, Ola actually added ‘Ola Rooms’ to their actual app. Talk about going all the way!
Virgin America’s New Logo
Virgin America, a part of Virgin Group, unveiled a new logo that resembled a pair of women’s breasts. The group’s founder Sir Richard Branson himself starred in the intro video (which we think is a parody). Since the launch, their official account has got plenty of messages pointing out how the brand might have made the mistake of not realizing what the logo resembled. We think they knew exactly what it resembled.
Google Photos
Google Photos teased a new feature that allowed users to search for images on Google Photos using emojis. We’re sure it’s an April Fool’s prank, but technology might actually catch up to make it possible in the future. We shudder to think what a future with emoji search may look like!
Firstpost on Kanhaiya Kumar
Firstpost published an article today morning with the headline ‘Delhi sucks! Krantiveer Kanhaiya is moving to Mumbai University, says he wants to experience Shiv Sena’. Now, this was an easy catch. If we manage to get this wrong, we’re going to shift to Delhi and join JNU.
Hike Messenger’s ‘Smell’ Feature
Hike sent an announcement yesterday informing its users about the introduction of a new ‘smell’ feature. The description actually read, ‘A fun and unique way to share smells along with your messages’. By now, many already know that it was a prank, but we’re still adding it because we managed to spot it without actually trying to smell our phone screens!
Samsung’s Trousers
Samsung unveiled a new line of trousers with features like Wi-Fly, Get Up! Alert, Keep-Your-Pants-On Mode, Fridge Lock etc. Well, they obviously didn’t try too hard to hide the fact that it was a joke with a feature called ‘Wi-fly’, but good one nonetheless.
The Quint on KRK & Mallya
The Quint made it pretty darn obvious by making KRK the subject of their article. Well, in a world where anything is possible, even this headline may well be – ‘Kamaal R Khan is the New Owner of Mallya’s Goa Villa’. For now, we’d put our money on the fact that it’s not.
Sulekha’s Professional Pranking Services
Known for providing the details for a host of services, a day might actually come when the brand may actually have something of this sort listed on their website. For now though, it seems like an innocent April Fool’s prank.
KRK’s Tweet
We may never know if KRK really meant or if it was an April Fool’s joke. We’re praying it was the latter.
