Kanjurmarg police solve accidental death case, arrest man for killing brother
Mumbai crime branch on Sunday solved a youth’s murder case, which was previously registered as an accidental death case, and arrested his elder brother for committing the crime.
Officers of crime branch unit 7 of Mumbai police on Sunday arrested Zeon Edward D’souza (28) for killing his younger brother Zito (24). The brothers resided at Shastri nagar, Kanjurmarg East.
On July 9, Zito was brought to Sion hospital by his elder brother. When the doctors asked him how he was injured, Zeon told them he had met with an accident and a glass piece had pierced his body near the kidney. Only July 14, Zito succumbed to his injuries following which, a case of accidental death was registered.
However, the crime branch received information that Zito’s elder brother Zeon is suspected to have killed his brother. As a result, Zeon was detained by the police and questioned.
After cops found some irregularities with his statement, the continued to questioning him. Zeon finally confessed to murdering his brother over a family dispute. He told cops that Zito would frequently come home in a drunk state and assault family members.
The accused was arrested under relevant sections of IPC and has been handed over to Kanjurmarg police station for further investigation.
