New platform being constructed at Mahim station

1. To accommodate the newly introduced 12-car rakes on Harbour line, railway authorities are constructing a new platform at Mahim railway station.
2. Since the platforms on the CST-Andheri stretch cannot accommodate 12-car rakes, the newly introduced rakes are only running on the CST-Panvel stretch currently.
3. Once all stations on the CST-Andheri stretch are equipped to handle 12-car rakes, the service will extend to them and all harbour line trains will be converted to 12-car ones.
4. The additional station at Mahim is a step towards the same. Once constructed, the new platform will be exclusively be used for Harbour line.
5. Mahim’s existing harbour line platforms will be converted to handle WR trains plying from Mumbai Central to Borivali.
