Robbery at Bhakti Park: Gang of thieves breaks into 4 flats in broad daylight
Three unidentified men allegedly broke into and robbed four houses at Bhakti Park in Wadala on Saturday afternoon.
The incident occurred around 3 pm on Saturday, when the three men tried to take the lift of the Odyssey building. Since the watchman had never seen the men before, he enquired about who they had come to meet. The accused told the watchmen that they were visiting a resident of the sixth floor.
Per instructions, the watchman asked them to wait and called the flat via the building’s intercom. However, no one answered the call. Despite that, they men were adamant that they wanted to visit the flat. Eventually, the watchman asked them to make an entry in the visitor’s register and allowed them to pass.
After a few hours, the men returned from the flat and took off in a car via the road leading to the freeway. The theft came to light after one of the residents filed a theft complaint with Wadala TT police station.
During investigation, police found that goods worth Rs 1 lakh were stolen from a flat on the fifth floor. The neighbouring flat was also broken into, but nothing was stolen as no one resided there. Two more flats, on the sixth and first floor, were also broken into. While the robbers didn’t take anything from the sixth floor flat, they stole two mobile phones from the flat on the first floor.
Based on the statements of the flat owners, police have filed a robbery case against the unidentified accused and are currently on the lookout for them.
