RTI: Mumbai Metro owes Rs 28.55 crore to MMRDA
An RTI query filed by activist Anil Galgali revealed that Reliance Mumbai Metro owes Rs 28.55 crore in rentals to the MMRDA (Mumbai Metropolitan Regional Development Authority).
The outstanding rent is for the 2.4 hectare land at Versova where the metro operator had put up a casting yard. The land was handed over to Mumbai Metro One Pvt Ltd (MMOPL) for a casting yard in January 2009 for 15 months.
According to MMRDA, the company originally owed Rs 30.63 crore in rentals. However, Rs 3.97 crore was cleared in July 2015. The current outstanding amount, including interest and delayed fees amounts to Rs 28.55 crore.
